For all classes at Hillwood High School, the Modern Language Association is the method for correctly citing sources when doing research.  The Modern Language Style is approved for both English, Social Studies, and Science research at Hillwood High School.

For International Baccalaureate (IB), the Modern Language Association is an approved style for documenting sources. This is approved in all Advanced Placement (AP) classes.


Remember the following rules for documenting sources:

• All direct quotes should be documenting in the body of your paper as well as in the Works Cited page.
• All paraphrased sentences with information from an outside source should be documented giving your source.
• Failure to document where you received information is plagiarism, and the student would be subject to have the paper receive a failing grade.
